The University Court is the governing body of the University of Edinburgh. Three positions on it are reserved for General Council members. In February 2018, new arrangements for filling these posts were approved. The Governing body of the University of Edinburgh, the University Court, currently has 22 members. Three positions on the University Court are reserved for General Council members who are currently neither staff nor students in the University. At its statutory half-yearly meeting in February 2018 the General Council approved new arrangements for filling these posts, not by election as previously, but by an open and transparent process of advertisement and selection jointly managed by a selection panel drawn from representatives from the General Council and from Court. This video provides an insight from former Court members into how the University Court operates. It may be helpful for potential applicants to have some introductory data about the scale and scope of the University for which the Court has governance responsibilities.
