Report from the Finance and Services Standing Committee meeting of 21 May 2024. The Finance and Services Standing Committee met on 21 May 2024, (i) to hear a presentation from Mr Gavin McLachlan, Vice-Principal and Chief Information Officer and Librarian to the University; and (ii) to discuss the following items of business: (a) General Council Prince Philip Fund, (b) General Council Budget 2023-24 and 2024-25, (c) University's Responsible Investment Consultation, and (d) Draft Protocol for General Council involvement in University strategies. Mr McLachlan took the Committee, among other things, through the key elements of the University's digital strategy; the digital estate capital plan and the 10-year roadmap; the digital estate governance; cyber protection; AI working group recommendations; key aspects of the Edinburgh Language Model platform; an update on the Centre for Research Collections. The Convener thanked Mr McLachlan for his meaningful engagement with the Committee.
