Election of Business Committee Members Members of the General Council elect twenty members to its Business Committee to take forward the role and responsibilities of the General Council on its behalf between its half-yearly Council meetings. Procedures for the election are set out in the Protocol for Elections to the Business Committee: Document Protocol for General Council Elections (581.77 KB / PDF) Elected members of the Business Committee serve for four years in the first instance and may thereafter stand for re-election for one further term of four years. To provide for a rotation of membership, elections for a proportion of members are held each year. The number of vacancies to be filled is announced in Billet and at meetings of the General Council. Those elected take up their position at the start of the next academic year following their election. Nomination forms are available from the General Council office and can be also be downloaded from the Elections section of this website. Information about the candidates is published in Billet.
